Hilarious Year-in-Making: Wallace and Gromit’s Morning Routine Goes Viral
A creator has replicated the famous Wallace and Gromit morning sequence, including automated toast and jam production, as part of a project that has taken about a year to develop.
Joseph Herscher, aged 40, replicated the iconic scene from "Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers," where Wallace constructs a complex contraption aimed at streamlining his daily morning tasks.
He spent two months completing the entire project, which included a two-day film shoot to produce what is now a 29-second scene.
A year back, when the creators of Wallace and Gromit from Aardman Animations came across Joseph’s viral creations online, they contacted him and invited him for a tour. This invitation was what motivated Joseph to proceed with his project.
Having been a fan of the British series since his younger years, Joseph, who has been a full-time inventor and YouTuber for over 12 years, said 'it felt like a childhood dream come to life.'
'I have wondered about how this invention could be made since I first saw the film in 1993,' he said.
'It took about two months on and off to get it to a point where we could go ahead and film it.'
He added: 'This project really meant a lot more to me than some of my other ones.

As someone who has been an Aardman enthusiast since childhood, this experience truly made me feel as though all my tiny inventors' dreams were coming true.
In order to portray Gromit, Joseph from London enlisted the help of a dog called Archie, who went through several training sessions to prepare for the part.
This entailed pressing a button to launch the jam onto a slice of bread just as the toast emerges from the toaster.
As the project progressed, it became evident that the most challenging aspects would be mastering the technique of slipping down into the pants and launching jam across a table to settle on a piece of toast.
Joseph soon discovered with the trousers that the drop was far more significant than he had anticipated.
Joseph mentioned, "I recognized that descending directly from such an altitude would not make me feel comfortable or secure, so we installed a bar linked to pulleys with a counterweight."
This allowed for a smoother and slower descent before lowering me into the pants.
The inventor performed 65 retakes to nail down the toast and jam stunt perfectly.

In the initial cartoon, Wallace possesses an apparatus that synchronizes the timing of toasted bread springing out with the precise moment when jam flies across the table to land on it perfectly.
Joseph went through numerous trials and errors—and even dabbled in some chemistry—to stop the jam from spilling all over.
Joseph mentioned, "The jam truly felt like the most challenging aspect of the entire project."
I realized from the beginning that if I launched it as it is, it would simply go all over the place rather than hitting the toast directly.
Therefore, I combined sodium alginate with the jam prior to submerging it in a water bath containing calcium lactate.
Since these two chemicals do not mix well, a tough outer layer develops around the jam, maintaining its round form.
Fans of Wallace and Gromit were unable to conceal their enthusiasm in the comment section of the popular TikTok clip, which has garnered over 190 million views.
Someone queried, "How many hours of jam-induced blooper reels does this contain?"
'No one will ever understand how much I wanted one of these when I was little,' a second person said.
Someone else commented: 'After working on the film, I promptly shared it with the other animators. It’s amazing!'
